August 15th Festival
August 15th is THE event in Liège, gathering an average of 200,000 people each year!
Many activities are planned for 3 days: flea markets, concerts, games, fairs, masses and processions! ?
Tchantchès and Nantesse, two people from Liège folklore are honoured as well as other Giants!
One of the particularities of this celebration is also to drink an alcohol from juniper berry called “péket”, a real TRADITION! ?
On the agenda this year:
Wednesday, August14: folklore parades, fairgrounds and concerts on Place Delcour
Thursday, August 15: procession of the Black Virgin of Outremeuse, mass, sermon and large folkloric procession of the Giants of Outremeuse
Friday, August 16: funeral of Matî l’Ohê (or Mathieu l’os in Walloon) symbolising the remains of the festivities
