CULTURE : KINGS OF COMEDY CLUB

A comedy club in Brussels with both an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

KOCC
During the week and at the weekend, the KOCC brings the quirky and traditional concept of a dinner-show back into fashion. Whilst sitting round a table to enjoy a meal (i would recommend the pasta and salads over the burgers, which are sometimes too big and sickly), you will be entertained by young fairly experienced talents and comedians, who have came to test their jokes and sketches on an intimate audience before taking them to a bigger stage.

Although, I should confess that out of the 7 comedians i have already seen there, only 2 of them really made me laugh out loud (especially Inno JP ), whilst 4 of them made me smile and one of them, well, he would have made me leave if the wine hadn’t been so good!

RECIPE: CROUSTILLONS OR SMOUTEBOLLEN

Now I know this might come as a bit of a shock… but we don’t just make Frites!

croustillons
Croustillons are little sweet fritters, which, together with cotton candy and tofee apples, play a prominent feature in any belgian fairground.  Fairly easy to make, they can be made with or without lager: the choice is all yours!

GREAT CONCEPT: COUCOU FOR RENT

Clothes to die for are available to rent, practicaly made for those of you are constantly travelling and/or trying to save money!

Coucou
This boutique shop, which is situated in the Saint-Gilles quater of Bruxelles (107,rue de la Victoria) , is highly recomended for those of you who like to feel girly:

It’s here where you  will find formal dresses, stiletto heels, bags and accesories from belgian brands and designers, as well as all the most fashionable people in Bruxelles. Everything is available to hire (it will cost you between 15€- 35€ per dress). It’s perfect for any time when you want to feel beautiful and have confidence in your outfit; a restaurant, an important meeting, a wedding or any other big or little occasion…

The same concept for children and pregnant women still exists in Bruxelles : “Tale Me“.

ADDRESS : GRAND MAISON

The new place to be in Liège for those of us who love coffee and good vibes!

GrandMaison2
Fanny and Céline do everything to make their customers feel at home. It’s here where we enjoy our morning cofee and breakfast, it’s here where we indulge in brunch ( the sunday pancakes whilst looking over thr river Meuse and the famous ‘Batte‘ market are marvellous), and it’s here where we soack up the last rays of sun on a summers day whilst sipping an aperatif, made from the best local products of the season.

In short, we go there all the time and we always leave happy because it’s good, its fresh, and above all, it’s made with love. More details and moutwatering photos here and here.

WITH FAMILY(or friends) : LA NUIT DES COTEAUX

Liège boasts some of the 20th most spectacular stairs in the world!

coteaux
Every first saturday in October, the stairs beautiful demonstrate night time in ‘Coteaux’- and that’s why people flock to take photos of them, to climb them, to descend them and to bask in all their glory!

The whole historical centre of Liège is illuminated in candles; which you can walk between to descover the city in a new and exciting light. What’s more, it makes the summit up the ‘Escalier de Bueren’s 374 stairs’ pleasant and even easy!

To kill two birds with one stone, why don’t you make a stop at the equally enchanting Brasserie Curtius, situated in an old convent at the bottom of the stairs.

WE LOVE IT: CARMEN BRUSSELS

Unique, quirky, geometrical and…magnificent jewelry (speaking with complete impartiality of course!)
Carmen
Carmen Brussels is the new brand designed and launched by Sophie Boyens, a half-bruxelloise, half-liégeoise artist, who, equiped with nothing more than a cutting lazer and brass, has named her innovative creations after our grandmothers (we want Claude and Odette in our jewel box).

If you love the beautiful, the old, the new and the Art Deco; you are going to love wearing her knecklace peices. For that matter, if you are intrigued by the style, have a look at the Top 10 Art Déco Buildings to see in Bruxelles.

You can take a look and (potentially) buy her collections on the Facebook page or on Etsy.

BOARDING: CARAMEL, PRALINE ET CHOCOLAT

Treat yourself…
AppartementSeptembre2015
These are the names of two 2 person studios (the magnificent Caramel and the beautiful Praline with it’s soft centre) and a duplex apartment (the delicious Chocolat). They are situated in a typical 1900’s home, between a chocolaterie (which explains the names of the appartments) and the Grand Place de Bruxelles.

It couldn’t be better situated, don’t you agree!?

THE BELGIAN JOKE

* Two potatoes are in an oven *

– “Pffft it’s hot in there!”
– “AAAAah! A potato that talks!”
